Re: A man flashed an imitation gun at a shopworker on the day when a terror attack happened in London, after taking offence at something said in the store, Swansea Crown court has heard.
Jordan Davies made remarks about Asian people before lifting his top to reveal the black handle of a handgun in his waist.
When police searched his house, they discovered a number of imitation weapons - including an imitation Glock - as well as a deactivated submachine gun.
Swansea Crown Court was told that the offence took place in the Cocktails off-licence in the Hafod area of Swansea on the evening of March 22, 2017, the same day of the Westminster Bridge terror attack in London.
Davies was in the shop and engaged in “good natured banter” with an Indian trainee member of staff, and an Bangladeshi customer - with Davies joking about a story in the Evening Post on a dead pigeon having been found in a Swansea restaurant .
However, the prosecutor said the 22-year-old “seemed to take offence at something that was said” during the conversation and started making comments about Asian people - he then pointed at the owner of the shop and told him he looked like a terrorist.
Davies was sentenced to nine months in prison - he will spend half that time in custody before being released on licence.
The judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the seized weapons.
