Ford had worked for the learning disability service for 36 years.
Mrs Ford, 55, started working at Hensol Hospital in the Vale of Glamorgan in 1984. When that closed in 2003 she moved to the Brynafon Learning Disability Unit in Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
