Re: A father dad drowned in front of his young son after being swept off his feet by a riptide  while paddling at one of Britain’s top beaches.<br />
Fitness fanatic Benny Collins, 40, was hit by the strong current moments after running into the water with son Harry, eight, on a hot summer's day.<br />
An inquest heard schoolboy Harry raised the alarm after being pushed back to the beach by the riptide.<br />
No lifeguards were on duty at Three Cliffs Bay in South Wales, named as Britain’s best beach and the favourite view of Welsh opera diva Katherine Jenkins.<br />
Hospital physiotherapist Benny and his son ran into the water hand-in-hand while visiting the beach with the family dog.<br />
Coroner’s officer Sian Thomas said: “The sea was calm and other people were in the water when they suddenly started calling for help.<br />
“Benny and his son were not in deep water but were caught in a strong riptide,<br />
“Harry managed to get ashore but his father was taken out to sea.”
