Re: A British climber was killed and his wife seriously injured living their "big dream" on one of the toughest rock faces in the world.<br />
Andrew Foster, 32, and his wife Lucy, 28, were buried under tons of falling rock as they prepared for their climb.<br />
Experienced climber Andrew was killed but Lucy was rescued and airlifted to hospital where she was in a "critical" condition.<br />
The couple were married a year ago and the three-week trip to the Yosemite National Park in California was part of their first wedding anniversary celebrations.<br />
They had ben training for the expedition for six months and flew off to the States on September 11 along with other members of their climbing club.<br />
Andrew and Lucy, from Cardiff, were scouting out a descent of the iconic rockface El Capitan when a "sheet" of granite fell on them.<br />
Rangers on the national park beauty spot said a piece of granite 40 metres by 20 metres fell from a height of 200 metres while the couple were below.<br />
Patagonia, a company owned by Andrew Foster has confirmed the incident.
