Re: A one ounce gold nugget discovered on a dried up river bed in North Wales was sold for £16,000 at auction in Cardiff, Wales, UK. <br />
The lump of gold was named the “Prince of Wales” because it’s believed to be the largest ever found in Snowdonia, north Wales.<br />
Father and son prospectors Ray and Kerry Thackwell found the nugget on an ancient river bed near Dolgellau in 1979.
