Re: Nathan Price and his son, alos called Nathan Price, who targeted a vulnerable old aged pensioner - driving her to a bank to withdraw money for a garden job at her home which wasn't required, have been jailed by Swansea Crown Court, Wales, UK.
Price and his son, preyed on 87-year-old Linda Broad as she lived alone at her flat in Swansea on February 6, 2020.
Price senior told her that a tree in her garden needed to be felled, claiming that Swansea Council was going to pay for the majority of the work, which was not true, but she would have to pay a further £1,600.
The court was told how Price senior asked Ms Broad if she had the money in her house, before following her inside.
Prosecutor Tom Scapens explained how Ms Broad was driven to the nearest bank to withdraw the cash, by both men in their van, who parked up some distance away from where it was located to avoid being captured by CCTV, by saying that they could not travel any closer as they would not be able to turn the vehicle around.
Ms Broad's granddaughter worked in a shop in close proximity to the bank, and the pensioner went in to see her and tell her what was going on. She immediately realised it was a scam and called the police.
The Prices drove off at speed. What followed over the coming months was a lengthy examination of automatic number plate recognition cameras and mobile phone cell site analysis by police to locate the two men.
Price senior was jailed for two years and three months, and Price junior was jailed for 21 months. « less
