Re: An 11 year old boy has been shot dead by a "stray bullet" during a school celebration in Acharnes (Menidi) area, in the outskirts of Athens, Greece.
Marios Dimitrios Souloukos "complained to his mum" who works as a teacher at the 6th Primary School of Acharnes that he was feeling unwell, he then collapsed with blood pouring out from the top of his head.
His mum tried to revive him assisted by other teachers while his schoolmates who were reportedly upset, were hurriedly removed by their parents.
According to locals an ambulance arrived 25 minutes late.
Hundreds of police officers have been deployed in the area and have raided many properties.
Shells matching the fatal bullet which hit the boy on the top of his head were found in a house yard nearby.
Local people reported hearing shots being fired at a nearby Romany Gypsy camp before the fatal incident.
The area has been plagued with criminality during the last few years. « less
