Re: An 86 year old female pensioner who broke her leg had to wait almost two days for an ambulance to take her to hospital.
Staff at St Martin's Court Care Home in Swansea called 999 when Mary Duffy, who suffers with dementia fell from a chair on Sunday evening which caused her limb to break in two places.
They were advised by 999 staff not to give the woman any food or drink before the paramedics arrive.
It was not until 5.30pm on Tuesday that an ambulance arrived to take her to hospital.
Her son Tim said: "When I called the second time they told staff to get her ready, but time was going on, and she was in agony, so they gave her painkillers.
"I am fuming about the wait she had to endure, although that is not all directed at the paramedics or hospital hospital staff or staff at the care home."
"All of them were brilliant, and the service they provided was excellent but it is the system at fault." he added.
