Re: Teaching assistant Caroline Hannigan stole money that was raised at Glanhowy Primary School for charity,  to pay off her son's drug debt, a disciplinary hearing has been told.<br />
Hannigan collected £287 for the British Heart Foundation in Tredegar, south Wales in February 2015.<br />
She used the cash to pay off a drug dealer after her son was threatened.<br />
A fitness to practise committee in Cardiff is considering her case.<br />
Ms Hannigan has worked at the school in various roles for 23 years.<br />
She was given a 12-month conditional discharge after admitting theft by an employee at Caerphilly Magistrates' Court in February 2016.
